Banished from the Lookout, he terrorized Earth with an army of demonic offspring — Tambourine, Cymbal, Drum, and Piano — each spawned from eggs expelled from his body. Master Mutaito, Roshi's master, sealed him away with the Evil Containment Wave at the cost of his own life. Centuries later, Emperor Pilaf released him, and the ancient demon king embarked on a campaign of terror: he killed Krillin, murdered Chiaotzu (whose death prompted Tien's vendetta), used the Dragon Balls to restore his youth, seized the throne of Earth, and very nearly succeeded in annihilating all opposition. Goku, after drinking the deadly Ultra Divine Water and surviving its poison, confronted the Demon King in a battle that shattered the royal palace. Goku's final attack — a one-armed Oozaru Punch augmented by the last dregs of his power — drove through Piccolo's chest, killing him. With his dying breath, the Demon King spat out a single egg containing his reincarnation and son, Piccolo Jr., who would grow to become Goku's greatest ally.
